A healthy regression suite is **tiered**: smoke (<5 min, blocks deploy) → critical-path (<30 min, post-merge) → extended (nightly). Tagging via Playwright projects / pytest markers / Cypress tags / Selenium suites keeps the right tests running at the right cadence.
